Thirty-one percent (31%) of Canadians support the idea of the “truckers’” protest while 38% support bringing back the exemption for unvaccinated truck drivers. These are the findings from the first half of the current wave of INNOVATIVE’s Canada This Month survey, in field from January 27th to 31st, 2022 with a sample size of 635 Canadian residents. The survey remains in field and we will update these findings by the end of the week. A detailed methodology is provided in the full report.
More than 6-in-10 Canadians say they are following the news of the “trucker” protest. Support for the protest is highest among those following it most closely.
As noted above, 31% support the protest with 46% opposed. Support is highest in Alberta and Ontario and lowest in the Atlantic and BC. Support is also relatively high among Conservatives and supporters of the Greens and PPC.
Few people are impressed of the Liberal party (23% approve) and even fewer of the CPC (12%) approve.
Just over half (52%) believe the federal government should stick to its guns and continue to require all truckers to be vaccinated while 38% would like the government to bring back the exemption for truck drivers.
