While there are some signs of backlash from the early election call, the Doug Ford PCs lead the Ontario election with 49% of the decided vote.
These are some of the findings of an online survey of 857 Ontarians sponsored and conducted by Innovative Research Group (INNOVATIVE). The online survey was conducted between January 29th to 31st, 2025.
While mentions of the election call are more negative than positive, when we ask Ontarians what they have read, seen or heard about Doug Ford and the PC campaign, the PCs enjoy the support of almost half the province. Ford favourables have marginally improved and his best to be Premier score is stable.
For the opposition parties, the key challenge is to gain attention. Only 25% heard anything about Bonnie Crombie and the Liberal campaign and just 17% heard anything about Marit Stiles and the NDP. While the NDP have the lowest awareness, their messages have the highest positive impact by a wide margin.
As we discussed earlier this week, the vote number will not move unless people hear something to change their mind. The NDP and Liberals are suffering in their competition for attention against stiff competition from the Trump tariffs and the airline tragedy.
