Last week, INNOVATIVE added two questions in BC to our weekly national public affairs tracker asking if BCers have heard anything about a fall election and if they think it is a good or bad idea. Given the election call, we pulled and weighted our partial completes giving us a weighted sample from the weekend of N=200.
A majority of British Colombians (59%) had heard about the election speculation, but for 31% it is coming as a surprise. One-in-ten were not sure if they had heard anything.
A majority of British Columbians (53%) say a provincial election now is a bad idea. Just 18% say it is a good idea. Interestingly, 62% of both BC Liberal and NDP party identifiers say an election now is a bad idea. The question now is whether NDPers reconsider their view now the Premier and asked for an election, or if Horgan loses votes as a result.
