Ontario’s opposition fail to break through that onslaught of tariff news as the Doug Ford PCs continue to lead the Ontario election with 49% of the decided vote.
These are some of the findings of an online survey of 838 Ontarians sponsored and conducted by Innovative Research Group (INNOVATIVE). The online survey was conducted on February 5th and 6th, 2025.
The PC Party of Ontario continues to maintain a huge lead with 49% of the vote. The Liberals have 22% of the vote while the NDP are close on their heels at 20%.
Once again, the key challenge for the opposition is to gain attention. Just like last week, only 25% heard anything about Bonnie Crombie and the Liberal campaign, and just 17% heard anything about Marit Stiles and the NDP. While the NDP have the lowest awareness, their messages continue have the highest positive impact by a wide margin. The Liberal ‘hot mic’ ad is showing up in the Ford R/S/H mentions with a negative impact, but far behind mentions of standing up against Trump.
More than half (57%) approve of the provincial government’s response to Donald Trump. Almost half (45%) say Doug Ford is the leader best suited to respond to the tariff threat. Crombie is at 15% and Stiles sits at 9%.
Even if the opposition can “change the channel,” the PC Party leads on every issue (even the environment) and Doug Ford leads on every leadership attribute (even delivering change).
While INNOVATIVE will continue to track the campaign weekly, the Ford PCs are well on their way to an even bigger majority.
